Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua is dead
Nderitu Gachagua, the Nyeri Governor has died in London where he was undergoing treatment. He is the first governor to die while in office.
The governor, who also served as Mathira MP before being elected governor in 2013, died on Friday morning aged 64 after a long illness which saw him admitted in London for two months in 2015.
According to a family member, Gachagua died at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London while undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. He died at 2.15 am Friday morning, February 24th 2017.

Nderitu Gachagua was born on 29th July 1953. He is a Kenyan politician and the governor for Nyeri county, alongside deputy governor Wamathai Samwel Githaiga.He is a member of GNU party and a coalition member of Jubilee Alliance.
Nderitu Gachagua holds a degree in Building economics from the University of Nairobi.
