
Another blow in Nyeri as MCA collapses,dies during Jamuhuri Day celebrations

The deceased had a pending election petition before a Karatina court where Mr James Ndegwa Macharia is seeking to nullify the election
He had 4,046 votes against the petitioner’s 3,407 votes. He was described as a polite and selfless man. He has left behind a wife and two children.
The misfortune comes a month after Wahome Gakuru’s death.Gakuru was the second Nyeri governor before he met his death following a tragic road accident along Thika-Murang’a road on Tuesday November 7th.Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru on Tuesday morning died at Thika Level 5 Hospital while the council of Governors was in the process of airlifting Wahome to Nairobi Hospital before he passed away and was laid to rest in his Kirichu home in Nyeri on 8th November 2017.
Gakuru, 51,was heading to the capital for talk shows with a vernacular radio and TV accompanied when his vehicle veered off the road and hit a guard rail near Kabati on the Thika-Muranga highway.Also Read:Onyonka beats Jubilee’s Kibagendi,retains Kitutu Chache MP seat
Governor’s car had four occupants at the time of the crash— him, his personal assistant Albert Kaguru , his body guard Ahmed Abdi and the driver, Mr Samuel Kinyanjui Wanyaga,according to the nation.
Dr Gakuru becomes the second Nyeri governor to die in office after Governor Nderitu Gachagua, who died in February this year.
Gakuru was a lecturer at the School of Business, University of Nairobi since 1994. He holds a doctorate in Public Administration and Policy from Arizona State University, the United States.
He was a member of The National Alliance Party since 2013 before moving on to Jubilee Alliance later.
The late was governor aspirant in the 2013 general election where he lost to the late Nderitu Gachagua.
