Kuria,Muthama Arrested Over Hate Speech

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has been arrested and is being detained at the Pangani Police station after the remarks he made on his Facebook page on 5th Tuesday September 2017.

Addressing Jubilee supportes at Wangige town in Kiambu county,he called on Jubilee supporters to vote for Uhuru in large numbers and vowed to start a manhunt for atleast 70,000 people who voted for Raila and 200,000 who never voted at all.

“Kiambu has spoken.They have said wembe ni ule ule (the razor blade is the same one). Wangige and Kiambu people are seething with anger. One million of their votes were cancelled by four people. But they are so ready to do it again,and even more. Manhunt is on tonight for 200,000 people who did not vote and  the 70,000 that voted for the other demon”,he posted.


The Gatundu South MP went off for a live Facebook stream hurling insults to Raila Odinga and his family, saying that he had become a headache to the Jubilee administration.He added that the outsiders residing in Kiambu County would be flushed out and unspecified consequences meted on them.

Kuria complained that some 100,000 people voted for the NASA presidential candidate and urged the crowd to look for those opposition voters and present them to him. He was unhappy that in Mount Kenya region Raila received 300,000 votes,which he said were even more than had been cast for Mr.Odinga in Rift valley. In the Facebook post that went viral and irked some kenyans,Kuria indicated that he was ready to face consequences and stated that he was ready to be jailed.

On Thursday, a section of Nyanza MPs called for investigation and arrest of the Jubille party MPs MosesKuria, Kipchumba Murkomen and party secretariat leader Raphael Tuju over inflammatory remarks.The MPs said Government agiencies should move swiftly to prosecute the three over remarks they termed as ethnic profofilling which they warned risked plunging the country into tribal conflicts.

Jubilee party Secretary general Raphael Tuju condemned what Moses Kuria had posted  and stated the following;

“Moses Kuria is out of order and i will not accept this kind of language. If  it is true that it is from his official Facebook page,then i will take it up with him because it is not acceptable.We can not be put on the spot by mistakes of a few elements in the party which are  preaching the wrong thing in the country”.

Former Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama has also been arrested for the same reasons as Kuria’s. Muthama is said to have made inciteful remarks on Sunday in Kitengela during a rally held by the National Super Alliance (NASA). His speech also went viral on social media.He is currently being held at Kangundo police station.
