Court nullifies Nandi Hils MP Alfred Keter’s election citing poll malpractices
Nandi Hills Member of Parliament seat is now vacant following High Court’s nullification of Alfred Keter’s election.

On Thursday morning, Eldoret High Court ruled that Keter’s win was not fair, citing poll malpractices.
Justice George Kimondo said the elections were not held in a free and fair environment, adding that Keter committed various electoral illegalities.
Bernard Kibor, the petitioner accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of colluding with Keter to rig him out in the closely contested polls.

Judge Kimondo ordered for a fresh election in a duration of 60 days.
Keter asked the court to strike out the petition claiming that it was defective and that it lacked merit. He was declared the winner by IEBC with 28,923 votes against 13,872 garnered by independent candidate Benard Kibor Kitur who came second.
Keter, who was recently charged of forging Sh633 million Treasury Bill said he was being fought by those who were behind his tribulations.

Mr Keter, Mr Madat Saburali and Mr Johnstone Arthur Sakwa
The outspoken MP has had a rough time after he was arrested alongside businessmen Arthur and Mr Madat Saburali before they were released on Sh2m cash bail after denying all charges at Milimani Law Courts.
The three were arrested at Central Bank of Kenya headquarters in Nairobi as they went to push for the payment of treasury bills worth Sh633 million
According to CBK’s Director of Communications Wallace Kantai, the three presented a set of forged Treasury Bills which were purportedly issued by the CBK a couple of years ago, in their claim for redemption. They claimed that the certificates were issued against cash they lent to state in February 5th 1990.

They were accused of presenting another forged Treasury bill valued at Sh347 million the same day.
The magistrate ordered that the MP be allowed unlimited access to his phone in the presence of detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
