Childhood trauma can occur when a child witnesses or experiences overwhelming negative experiences in childhood. Many childhood experiences can overwhelm a child. Survivors of childhood trauma often show some (though not all) of the following emotional symptoms.

- Finding yourself in the same types of stressful traumatic or abusive relationships.
